You may well find that you have swollen ankles this is perfectly normal and down to the body holding more fluid, if your feeling hot this can be a bonus in winter but not so in summer – this is caused by your metabolic rate being higher than normal.

By this time you may fined you become out of breath this is because your baby is putting pressure on your diaphragm and lungs, deep breaths and propping yourself up with pillows may help to alleviate this.

If you’re suffering with leg cramps which have a habit of getting more painful and frequent as you get nearer to your due date then try massaging the area, walking and straightening your legs while bending your toes towards yourself may help.
Exercising gently often helps with most aches and pains but try to avoid lifting heavy objects or standing for long periods, so stick your feet up with a nice cup of tea!

Week 27
Your baby’s eyes will be opening now and the retina forming and he or she will look pretty much like they will when born bar being a bit smaller and thinner but the lungs, liver and immune system are still maturing.

Week 28
By now your baby weighs around 2 pounds and the eyes have formed they even have eyelashes, plus your baby is starting to fill out with that all important body fat, your midwife should also be able to tell you what position your baby is lying in but don’t worry if its in breach position as he/she has two months yet, plenty of time to hopefully turn.

Week 29
Fat is still building up under your babies skin and the head is now in proportion with the body, movement in the eye socket is now happening and they can now sense light and dark. By now you should feel your baby moving and kicking regurly which may well add to your breathlessness.

Week 30
Baby now weighs around 3pound and is practicing opening and closing their eyelids, your baby is also mimicking breathing all in preparation for the big arrival, the layers of fat continue to grow making your baby look less wrinkly.
Don’t forget to eat plenty of foods high in fibre this will help keep things moving and will help banish the sluggish feeling and constipation.

Week 31
Your baby is likely to grow any more now but will continue putting on weight and he or she can now use their bladder, you may be suffering from regular heart burn this is because of all the room your little one is taking up!

Week 32
Feeling uncomfortable and immobile well your not the only one so your baby is getting hard to move around in there and your likely to feel the kicks even more, you may also find your belly button is protruding now and you may even experience Braxton Hicks which is all preparation for the big day!

Week 33
Now would be a great time to check that you have everything you need in your hospital bag even if you are planning a home birth (just in case). Your baby now weighs around 3-4 pounds and may possibly already have a full head of hair.

Week 34
Now’s the time you want to be slowing down and preparing yourself for the birth because your now at the stage where its easy to become tired not surprising with that big bump your carrying round.
The repeated sleepless nights because of pee breaks and tossing and turning while trying to get comfortable, your baby’s finger nails have grown to the tips of their fingers and will require cutting after the birth.

Week 35
Try not to worry yourself to much with anxieties over the labour and the thoughts of dealing with a newborn, another common worry is that your baby isn’t moving around as much but if you think about it…..it’s getting to be a tight squeeze in there!
Baby will now weigh around 5 ½ pounds and is putting on weight fast, they will also develop daily activity cycles because light is being filtered through your belly which has stretched to be considerably thin.

Week 36
With only a month to go now is a good time for organising things that still need doing, maybe you have some finishing touches to do on the nursery, put that cot together?
Your baby really could arrive at anytime so get that hospital bag finished and remind yourself of your birthing plan.

Week 37
In most cases the baby should be in the position that he will be in when you give birth and is practicing breathing! You are now considered full term and it really is just a waiting game, this week you may also have a heavier discharge which shows your body is preparing for labour.

Week 38
You may loose your mucus plug which has been stopping any nasty infections getting to your uterus; it is usually described as a thick yellowy mucus which may have tinges of blood.

Week 39
You may experience false labour a series of contractions that can be felt in various parts of your body including your back, lower abdomen and pelvis
Real labor pains start at the top of your uterus then spread across the whole uterus followed in a wave across your lower back and down to the pelvis.

Week 40
You may or may not have your baby by now if not don’t worry it will happen and though it can be very frustrating for you try to stay calm and relaxed, your little bundle will be with you very soon!!
