Chris J Keys is a Newtownards, Northern Ireland based Vocalist, Acoustic Guitarist, Electric Guitarist, Bass Guitarist, Pianist & Song Writer.

Chris has played in a number of bands and has been a solo artist since 2004.

I took a listen to the tracks Chris has on his MySpace page and the first track "Blistering Eyes" is a nice guitar and vocals acoustic laid back easy to listen to number.

I found Chris's vocals very clear and easy to listen to the same on the second track "Fix It" Chris's vocal performance is impressive and his sound is distinctive.

The third track "Missed You" demonstrated to me that Chris J Keys is quite capable of delivering consistently crisp clear and moving melodies. I have heard it said some of the artists to be found on MySpace are not up to the job Chris J Keys is definitely not amongst those as he has a voice that is very nice and easy to listen to.

So my first question's to Chris J Keys are

Who do you feel are your biggest influences and why?

How would you describe your sound and what are your favourite numbers when it comes to performing?

Hi Mr Flicks, Well Im Inspired By All Kinds Of Music . Mainly Jack Johnson , John Martyn Snowpatrol , Biffy Clyro......
I Would describe The Music I Write As , Relaxing Acoustic And Thoughtful .
I Guess I Always Love To Play A New Song As Its Fresh Until The Next One Comes Along...
I Have Lots Of New Tunes To Be Recorded And Uploaded To My Bebo And Myspace Pages Very Soon....

Hey Chris apologies for delay in replying we have been having a few problems with an influx of dodgy sign ups and to cap it all it was my daughters birthday today.

Are these tracks you have written yourself?

Do you have plans to have your own website online any time soon?

No Problem At All.....

Oh Yes Of Course All The Songs I UpLoad Are My Own, And Im Hoping I Can Get The New Stuff Recorded And Up With In A Few Months.
Been Held Back A Little With The Tonsils Which Are Coming Out Very Soon.
With A Bit of Rest Ill Be Good As New And Back In Action.....

I Will Also Start A Youtube Page. And Record Some Live Videos Of Me Playing At Home And On The Road.....

Nice to hear you are doing your own songs Chris.

Of course there is nothing wrong with doing covers of others work it is always nice to hear fresh and new things.

I know how you feel RE the tonsils I had mine out a number of years back but before I did I had quite a few problems to. Do you think having your tonsils out will affect your voice in any way? If so what effect would you expect it t have?

Has the tonsils thing caused you any problems with any canclled gig's at all?

Talking of Gig's to date what is your most memorable venue you have played and why?

It Should Not Effect The Voice Or So Im Told , 1 Person In Ever 1000 Could Have A Change So Im Keeping My Fingers Crossed That Its Not Me Loll....

Yes It Some Times Has Effect On The Cover Gigs I Do On The Weekends .... Just 1 Week To Go Now, I Sound Crazy I Know lol, But Ive Had To Put Up With These Bad-Boys For 8 Months Now!!

Ive Played A Few Good Spots Around Belfast . Like the john hewitt, katy dalys , Kings Head, laverys bunker....
I Play In Puds And Clubs All Over Northern Ireland At The Moment Through An Agent, Mainly Cover Gigs.
As Soon As The Old Voice Is Back In Action Ill Get Back To To Belfast Scene, And Sing More Of My Own Tunes.

Interesting list Chris, I am going to have to check a couple of those out as am presently unaware of the artists and I love finding out about new musical talent (new and new to me from way back) which is part of the reason I started the music forums here on TVWorlds.

I have had a listen to the tracks you loaded on to MySpace that I previously listened to the acoustic versions of and they sound real good. I am not sure which I prefer the acoustic or the bigger sound.

Both versions are equally good if you ask me. Apologies for taking so long to continue the interview btw I have been a bit busy and have been swamped with things to do.

There are some nice classic tracks in your list of most influential tracks, at least a couple I would rate very very highly too.

How are things going RE your voice since you had your tonsils out? Are you still resting or have you managed to try out your voice to see if there have been any changes?

Also meant to ask are you planning on continuing only as a talented solo artist or if the right ensemble came along would you consider being part of a band/group?

I am going to take another listen to your tracks available on MySpace when I get time & now that you have different ones loaded and see which one I think is my favourite and will get back on that and let people and yourself know what I think RE those present tracks.

Hello there loll once again sorry for the late reply. This interview should break the record for the longest interview spread over time As we started it afew months back lol ......

Ive been real bisy recording my latest tunes 'Shooting star' and ' Under the street light' which are now on line to listen to. And i have a few more to come....

The vocie is feeling great and is fully recovered now, and i think there could be a change for the better, more air getting out which helps the breathing 2....
