Google has asked for submissions to a project called 10 to the 100th.

With the statment "May those who help the most win".

I have sumitted the "Double T Ted's" for consideration and Google what with their you don't need to wear a suit and their "be good" philosophy along with their sense of humour may just be exactly what the "Double T Ted's" need to bring things together in a way no other company probably could or even would.

There are 8 categories including

I entered the "Double T Ted's" in the everything else category.

The main reason being that although primarily the "Double T Ted's" would have probably been placed in the "Education" category due to the plans I have in mind to use the "Double T Ted's as educational devices to teach English and especially spelling, the "Double T Ted's" could also have been submitted to other categories to. For example oppurtunity due to the websites aspects and the creation of work that would benefit artists and other's with the cartoon strips to name just one aspect.

I also believe the "Double T Ted's" have aspects relating to some of the characters that could open up new things in other categories to, so let's hope I got it right by submitting to the "Everything Else" category.

I for one think the Google 10 to the 100th project idea is a a wonderful oppurtunity and an admirable move by Google Inc.

The project 10 to the 100th idea is a call for ideas to change the world and help as many people as possible which "even if we don't win with the Double T Ted's" falls into line with many aspects of what I have in mind for them.

The public will be asked to choose twenty semi finalists and then an advisory board will select the final five ideas and voting on the winning project will begin on Jan 27th 2009 Revised to March 17th, 2009

Google are committing $10 million to the implementation of these projects.

What a way for Google to celebrate their 10th birthday. The company go from strength and their philosphies I must say I find a real breathe of fresh air. What other company has ever done something so great that will benefit as many people as possible and called for ideas to benefit as many people as possible in such a way.

You may wonder why Google would want to do this is it a con or a publicity stunt.

Well no of course it is not a publicity stunt or a con - think about it do you think Google need publicity stunts. They have them every Aprils fools day with their funny spoof practical jokes that ensure people publicise them quite happily for free anyway.

Also if you did'nt know already although a business that makes money Google has a somewhat unusal business model and it's founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin set into Google an approach that ensures Google can do good for the public and their staff alike.

Google 10 to the 100th project in their FAQ for the project state that they believe that they do not have all the answers and that out there somewhere are the answers. Either some idea you may have been toying with like I have with the "Double T Ted's" or in a Lab company or University or maybe just in your head waiting to be found explained and implemented.

So if you have an idea that will help people in any way Google want to here from you and who know's you may be one of those who gets funding from Google to bring your idea to fruition.

I realise it is also a business thing but it's still aimed at benifitting many.

You say you applied to the 10 to the 100th project for 'Double T Teds' MrFlicks, how exactly are the Double T Ted's going to fit the critieria they are looking for?

I am glad you asked me that MissTVWorlds as explaining how the Double T Ted’s could be used to have positive long lasting effects in the online form to apply for consideration for Project 10 to the 100th is a little difficult due to how short the fields available are, not that I do not understand why that is so as obviously Google staff have to narrow down what could be thousands of applications to a mere 100 so keeping things short and sweet makes a lot of sense.

I hope those who make it into the top 100 who will go up for the public vote are allowed to fill out another form so they are able to elaborate a little more but we will have to wait until 27th of Jan 2009 (revised to March 17th, 2009) to see if anything happens RE that I guess.

Ok so how would the Double T Ted’s help people?

I think the best way to explain this is to look at two of the main aspects of what the Double T Ted’s are and how this relates to the criteria Google are looking for in their 10 to the 100th project. So the first two main aspects that are the Double T Ted’s is the Characters their selves and the websites aspect.

Education: How can Google with Project 10 to the 100th help more people get more access to better education?

The Double T Ted’s are mostly spelling mistakes (there are some that are just quirky names) when it comes to their names. This makes them very useful online for a number of reasons because people make typos and so the sites would/could get found accidentally. But not in a way that uses a famous sites name and tries to steal their traffic.

The Double T Ted’s are devised to teach spelling and word usage and so anyone either young or trying to learn English as a second language will find them useful. Imagine a website for each Ted set up a little similarly to Wikepedia in many aspects but each website would be specifically targeting the search terms of the Ted in question. So let’s use HostTed as an example.

HostTed would be set up to teach all about Hosting, but would include a dictionary and thesaurus top of page element so that it teaches the spelling and usage of words like Host Hosting and Hosted. Part of the site would be editable by the public so that The Double T Ted’s site to compete with Wikipedia in the search engines.

But unlike wikepedia when appropriate each Double T Ted’s website would also sell and advertise products and services related to the words associated with that site on other parts of the site not publicly editable. That’s a brief explanation of a couple of the ways the Double T Ted’s would help with education. This leads on to another aspect of the criteria Google are looking for.

Opportunity: How can Google with Project 10 to the 100th help people better provide for themselves and their families?

The Double T Ted’s websites would in some cases create employment using a similar philosophy to Google’s own and so would make peoples working environment better by following the Google example of making their workers as happy (related to healthy to in many ways me thinks) as we can.

This would include the promotion and utilisation of work from home positions where ever possible opportunities so as to ease traffic congestion and pollution.

Also there are opportunities to create additional employment and self employment opportunities. Affiliate programs being one way to create opportunities as well as advertising programs that could compete with Adwords and the likes.

Now the Double T Ted’s are cartoon characters devised to advertise other people’s businesses products and services and so would create work for artists, cartoonists, illustrators and graphic designers from around the World.

This would likely work on a local level to some extent to as you as a business would if the talent is there use artists from your own Country which means they are employed and so the money goes into local economies

Then there is also the handmade exclusive collectors items aspect to things which we already discovered works well with our test attempt where our TVWorlds member One Eyed Fish (before she became a member) purchased the first hand made Double T Ted - InvestTed The Ted in a Vest for £150 on ebay and where I also demonstrated how to legitimately and legally make something out of nothing by selling the advertising space on InvestTed's chest in another ebay auction.

Environment: How can Google with Project 10 to the 100th help promote a cleaner and more sustainable global ecosystem?

When it comes to the Double T Ted’s this is an aspect that causes me deep concerns and worries. In the wrong hands the Double T Ted’s could just add to the price of bread and other food products in the same way using Ethanol as a fuel for motor vehicles is.

How so?

Because they are cartoon characters that I am going to write stories about and therefore could be made into Toys. If millions and millions of Double T Ted’s got mass produced in say China using plastic to make such toys IMHO this would not be a good thing.

This is why I say in the wrong hands the Double T Ted’s could do nothing but add to global environmental problems and is therefore an aspect that I would like to find ways of setting in place control mechanisms to avoid such things.

The Double T Ted’s could/would use EnvironmentalistTed and EnvironmentTed among others as tools to teach awareness of and promote good environmental practises. This includes using websites which I would use my SEO skills on to dominate search terms connected to such issues in such a way that the most people possible as well as the natural environment would benefit.

Shelter: How can Google with Project 10 to the 100th help ensure that everyone has a safe place to live?

InvestTed the Ted in Vest

InvestTed would be used to sell property in the first instance and would use a few quirky little ideas to create employment RE ways of advertising properties for sale.

These advertising ways would be in one case to use people as moving walking billboards and URL's with an idea I had back in 2007.

But apart from just selling property InvestTed could be used for many more things related to property investment and investing in people and their having a safe place to live.

I would at this stage however prefer not to go into too much detail and give away too many ideas.

The Double T Ted's would also promote a healthier and more wholesome lifestyle which would encourage a better way of life. This would in turn have knock on effects in helping form nicer ways of thinking and so would promote a more cohesive and friendlier society which would then also especially in the long term have a good effect in the area of Shelter.

Community: How can Google with Project 10 to the 100th help connect people, build communities and protect unique cultures?

Anyone who knows my views on things will know how I feel about deforestation and things like using Ethanol to power motor vehicles. If you look at my MySpace Blog and see what I thought of Bruce Parry and the Panan people of Borneo and their predicament concerning the forest they live in you would see I would want to use the Double T Ted's to help in such matters.

The Double T Ted's would provide platforms to help in such cases. Websites that get the word out regarding such things in the first instance but also education to others so they learn to respect their and others environment as much as the indigenous peoples of such areas do.

The same thing applies when it comes to desertification. The Double T Ted's would be used to teach how Elephants and the Acacia Trees are an important integral part of the Eco system and so would work at not just teaching the importance of such things as Elephants and the Acacia seeds they naturally carry in their stomach's and fertilise and nourish but also a long term plan to protect and replenish would be put into place.

There would also be a plan to use desalination units on Africa's east coast in order to supply the peoples of Ethiopia , The Sudan Darfur etc with clean drinking water that would be drawn from the ocean and desalinated. This would then be done in conjunction with Elephant and Acacia conservation and irrigation with the same desalinated water being used to grow the Acacia trees that would be planted by the Elephants as well as to grow crops to nourish and sustain the human population.

An example of conservation would be when it comes to trees if a tree was cut down for business then two would be protected and an additional two would be planted and rather than turning areas into exploitable for business only regions a different approach would be used that ensured the natural environment is protected from such exploitation and people would be educated accordingly.

Somehow a way to make money by keeping things natural would be found in order to negate the need to exploit the natural environment in order to make money.

Education being a major factor when it comes to teaching how important respect of the environment is and how important other creatures other than man are to mankind's own well being and survival.

The Double T Ted's would also use TVWorlds.com and other online platforms to provide places for communication and to keep people connected.

Energy: How can Google with Project 10 to the 100th help move the world towards safe, clean, inexpensive energy?

The Double T Ted's would be used to promote Green energy options where ever possible. This would include promoting and using cheap sustainable energy where ever possible to.

The use of solar power and wind farms are examples. The Double T Ted's would also research further ways to find and use sustainable energy.

I think there is a lot that could be used that people just do not see. When I look around me I see power sources that could be used with a little research into the best methods. Example would be flushing toilet's and water pipes. Now I realise not a solution but imagine for moment a high rise office block and the amount of water passing downwards through pipes and the amount of energy that is just going to waste.

Google even did an April Fools Toilet Joke TiSP so it must have already occurred to those at Google there is a power source present there even if they did make a tongue in cheek joke of this.

When it comes to transportation the Double T Ted's would promote the use of cleaner vehicle types. We would also lobby the US government to invest in helping companies like Tesla to produce affordable alternatives to gas guzzling vehicles that are now being filled with an ever increasing Ethanol mixture. The use of ethanol in such a way I have reasons to believe could have catastrophic consequences and needs to be addressed now and not in ten years time when vehicles and other power plants have converted over to Ethanol use.

Health: How can Google 10 to the 100th Project help individuals lead longer, healthier lives?

One of the keys to finding out about ways to lead healthier and longer lives is "research". Research needs to be paid for.

So one of way's the Double T Ted's would be used to create money for research is by having a "Turn off Adverts" option on this forum and perhaps other sites. The software could also be distributed in an "Open Source" platform as well as a more advanced paid version for others to use in a similar way.

It would work a little something like this. Anyone who has used ebay should know that these days there is the option to have charity auctions. Well imagine TVWorlds.com with 100,000 members + which with the backing of Google and a more Social Networking like platform (I say like loosely and I am thinking more along the lines of I like this and tell you because it is quality and not just because the brand sponsors my favourite team) ) being made out of it is not unrealistic and lets say half wanted to not see adverts displayed. There would be an option to turn off the adverts but it would cost £12 a year to do so. Like an annual subscription. The key thing that would make money for Research would be that the user/member would then have a choice as to where that money would go.

So the options would include things like Great Ormonde St Childrens Hospital, The Parkinson's Institute and things of that nature in order to help them sustain their research and so in turn help to find ways to help people to have healthier and happier lives. Obviously this is not a quick fix solution but i feel it would appeal to people and they would feel inclined to "Switch off Adverts" in such a way that benefits their favourite charity.

Now on to the criteria Google are looking for for Project 10 to the 100th

Reach: How many people would this idea affect?

With Google's backing it would be millions and as the idea has the sort of longevity Winnie the Pooh, Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse have it could still be affecting people and bringing smiles and joy into peoples lives in generations to come.


Depth: How deeply are people impacted? How urgent is the need?

People would be very deeply impacted as the Double T Ted's would also set up a charitable branch which would be one of the option's in the "Turn Off Adverts" yearly subscription. The money for which would be used for research and also to implement the desalination units on Africa's east coast.

People are starving and already have died of hunger and it is predicted another drought is on the cards for the region so I would say the need is very urgent.

Also the Ethanol in fuel tanks thing is pretty urgent to so that would also be something the Double T Ted's would be used for to promote cleaner less dangerous and potentially catastrophic alternatives to the likes of Ethanol.

Attainability: Can this idea be implemented within a year or two?

Yes with the right team to get characters like HostTed and AffiliatTed set up with websites the idea would be up and running in just a few weeks. I would like AffiliatTed to somehow be set up to avoid the use of Cookie affiliate tracking to avoid getting zapped by the likes of Spybot Search & Detroy but I believe Wallmart and others already use a no cookie system so with backing from Google and their wide ranging skills base this should not prove too difficult.

After setting up HostTed and AffiliatTed the InvestTed and TemplatTed sites would be set up. This would quickly be followed by more Double T Ted's like Tted.co.uk (Already number one on Google for "Commission a Cartoonist" and other search terms) and TrancactTed PresentTed and others. Of course if the Double T Ted's were successful in getting backing from Google these things could all be done simultaneously and so websites could get online in pretty rapid succession.

If Google have not already got their April Fools thing for 2009 prepared I could come up with one of the Double T Ted's that could be Google's 2009 April Fools joke that would ensure the rapid growth of the overall whole idea to.


Efficiency: How simple and cost-effective is your idea?

Pretty simple and yes it is cost effective as the websites of the characters would be self sustaining and would very quickly start to make a profit.


Longevity: How long will the idea's impact last?

Because the Double T Ted's are Cartoon "Teddy Bear" characters when it comes to longevity the best way I can explain this is to put in mind things like "Winnie The Pooh" Mickey Mouse" "Donald Duck" and other Cartoon Characters.

I believe that is a good measure to keep in mind when it comes to the longevity of the Double T Ted's and how long the idea will last. Years and years if Winnie the Pooh Donald Duck etc can celebrate their 50th birthday's and more then there is no reason why the Double T Ted's especially some of their central characters that become the best known can not last just as long as the classic cartoon characters I have mentioned.

Well you know me Miss TV Worlds I could probably have added a whole lot more that would be most relevant to the 10 to the 100th project from Google and the criteria required for the 10 to the 100th project but I think and hope to some extent that should suffice for now as I have a lot more I could add but to give too much away at such an early stage would be perhaps a little unwise.

It is always nice to have something more to add that is as yet under wraps and known only to myself. Though you know a few of the things I have in mind but please keep them quiet for now if you would.

I have heaps of things extra also that could work with the 10 to the 100th project and the Double T Ted's submission that you do not even know about yet to I might add.

Who know's maybe we will see Andrew and the other's making comments on the Google 10 to the 100th project here on TV Worlds if my Double T Ted's application makes it into the top 100 and gets put up for the public vote.

I would never tell a soul MrFlicks I wouldn't even be able to write down the stuff you tell me far to complicated, though I am now wondering what else you have up your sleeve?

It probably only seems complicated at first MissTVWWorlds - like my "Switch off Adverts" on the forum idea to raise money for research Charities, it is not once broken down all that complicated at all it is in fact very simple. The complicated part is that I do not have the skills required in that area EG coding. Hence why I have submitted my ideas to the fantastic 10 to the 100th Project competition.

I have added another page to the net RE 10 to the 100th Project that I will edit over the coming days and weeks as things devlope.
