After offering Carol Vorderman a 90% reduction in her £800,0000 a year pay check Channel Four have secured a deal something along the lines of what they wanted and were looking for by employing Rachel Riley for £100,000 a year to take Carol's place Daily Mail Story on Rachel taking Carol's job

It will be interesting to see if Rachel cuts it and can number crunch and impress the way our Channel four institution and flagship Channel four wonder girl Carol Vordeman has done for past 20 years or so!

The new girl has had a few problems from what I have been reading during recording for the new show she apparently struggled to work out some of the maths problems and was left stumped though this what put down to nerves according to sources.

I have yet to see her in action myself since she started earliar this week though I'm not sure whether to bother as I believe they should have kept Carol and oddly enough Rachel dresses very much like Carol did!

I think it was a muscling her out hatchet job Simon as if they paid the new girl more than they we're offering Carol to stay it adds up somewhere along the line to little more than a gentle nudge on your way lass we want fresher skirt IMHO.

I think it is simply a numbers thing with the need to inject some "Sex Sells" into the mix as Carol was not quite so appealing to the Uni type viewer and the younger audience they are most wanting to attract for further longevity of the cult show

It's far from the end of the World to Carol and the new girl is actually quite good short skirts and all she is not a bimbo.
