    Default What if?

What if Bollywood overcome Hollywood and become the biggest grossing film industry of the world?
As India is the world's fastest developing country it can easily overtake Hollywood by money making. Even now Bollywood movies are so colorful and lots of Hollywood movies are so cheaply made.

The world is a much smaller place these days, but hollywood still spend over £100m on many big movies - which still flop lol, people are strange creatures!

Bollywood wouldnt be as popular to a western audience, the morals, and social norms are considerably different, its a failing of society that is sad really but if they add tons of blood and gore, or highly offensive language and extreme violence then the west love it - something bollywood would NEVER be allowed to make, and so something that could never appeal to the mass audience of the west.

    The saw 1,2,3,4,5 grossed 607m
    Terminator 1,2,3 grossed 500m
    mamma mia - grossed 290m
    ...
    ...
the guru (*bollywood meets hollywood) grossed 26m (did not meet budget of £30m)

(these are worldwide sales including DVD, the top revenue 10 are all blood and gore movies)

bhool bhulaiyaa 300,000 on the same international charts it scored 6th place with a gross 2.5m

With the language and content and themes wrong for a western audience its not surprising the indian bollywood films are not overtaking hollywood films - what is surprising is they are over taking some with native viewers around the globe being the main or in many cases only audience.

And its for this reason bollywood probably might outsell hollywood, but it would never "take over" hollywood, unless they started making english language films with content that is liked by the west - and the west has never been one for lovey dovey films - we traditionally like blood and gore, violence, ultra offensive language and someone stealling a train, or pointing guns as guys in burger bars - a film with those elements usually does well

Doesnt say much for society does it? But as i began people are strange.

Lol Blackbeard I think I am strange then - while I do like the odd romantic comedy and I stay well clear of Chainsaw massacre and such like I do like a bit of action and just cannot get my head around these bollywood films.
They are all dressed brightly but they always look the same even though they look great the subtitles are a turn off and they all seem to revolve around the same sort of things.

Channel four often has a bollywood movie showing late at night but I always turn off because I cannot type and read subtitles at the same time lol.

Hollywood produces movies of every topic going and the style of clothing is different for every movie plus as you say they are not all lovey dovey!
