Exclamation PC Shane Doyle Floats Up to the Lake's Surface

I think it was terrible that the footage of Shane's hand appearing under the water on Christmas day was terrible. A lot of children would have been watching and although it was probably a false hand it would have been quite frightening for some of them. It would have been better if there are had been a splash of water when Eli put him into the lake and then after a short time there had been a reference that there had been a body found. There was no need for anything else to be shown.

Exclamation PC Shane Doyle Floats Up to the Lake's Surface

On Christmas Day 2008 Emmerdale's lake had frozen over though far from being totally solid as Victoria Sugden was to find out when she fell through the lake, as would luck would have Daz Eden came to her rescue unlucky for her Shane's hand also tryed to give a helping hand.

Welcome deanshaugh nice to see a new face around the soap forum I agree with you about the grizzly hand being shown it wasn't necessary but as always soaps like to inject as much tention and effects for such things as possible it is however my argument that it is family viewing tv time and it's hardly appropriate, though many would also argue it's down to the parents to monitor what their children watch.

Most people who watch Emmerdale knew there was a body in the lake the showing of the hand made you think you watching a movie, it shows how times have changed because when I was little my parents watched Emmerdale Farm and it was the only soap I was allowed to watch because it was rarely had anything shocking other than a lamb being born.

Though thinking about it I don't think are many soaps now that don't feature a murder every few months definitely not the kind of tv before bed!

I quite agree with what you say about it being the parent's decision whether the children should have watched it or not. I didn't watch it and I am 49 years old. I remember having nightmares about the body under the patio storyline on Brookside so I didn't watch the scary bits on Emmerdale.

Lol I was ratther young when the body under the patio story was running though I did watch it secretly though I was supposed to be in bed but I had my trusty black and white tv with earphones plugged in and the brightness turned right down I think I went to bed rather worried about what was under our patio!

Back to Emmerdale though I am still wondering how it will all play out seeing as Jasmine has done a runner to Scotland and they are now charging Debbie with murder so unless Jasmine turns herself in not even the best lawyer can help Debbie get off completely as she moved the body etc.
