My Online Pet Hates

I have a few things I dont like online apart from all the spammers and scammers two of the things I really do not like are Instant Messengers and Chatrooms.

Now although Instant Messengers have their uses for a quick few lines of conversation when it comes to actuallly communicating I find it impossible.

Both people writing at the same time questions getting muddled up and things generally getting stressful as you dont really get time to think and answer things properly.

Then there is the trying to find things if you need to read back something - the time it takes is another form of stress as you see your time vanishing away.

Talking of time vanishing this is another reason I really hate Instant Messengers as using them eats up your time. Now as an SEO writer my writing time is very precious to me every word written offline or not for implementation online is for me wasted time and as they say time is money and when you are into writing the way I am every minute I am online posting especially on my own forum is groundwork for my SEO and therfore very important to me.

Every sentence written in an instant messenger for me is a minute I loose doing proper work either for myself or a customer.

I get stressed out very easliy using Instant Messengers and find myself typing the same replies and the same info repeating myself which is why I prefer forums rather than wasting all my precious writing time instant messaging where I really cannot keep up with things and dont like trying to communicate where communication is in fact very difficult. Its much better for me to be able to answer a question I already answered by posting the link with the answer on page - saving me from typing the same thing again.

So its official I hate Instant Messengers. (And introduce the reason for FAQS to!)

Though I do see they have their uses of course - Proper communication not being one of them.

Now on to ChatRooms

I hate Chatrooms to and only ever managed to have one halfway sensible conversation when I attended a Webmaster Meeting in a Chatroom to discuss webmastering things.

I tried previous to that to join a couple of conversations but found it impossible to keep track or keep up nor to even get the chance to think of how to type proper answers - when you have keyboard dyslexia like I do Instant Messengers Chatrooms and Forums with no edit facilities just make things impossible.

I wont even bother to go into any of the other reasons I hate ChatRooms I will let their reputation and your imagination explain that for me.

I also hate Spam emails to but thats another story.

So thats 2 of my online pet hates - Do you have any online Pet hates if so what are they and why?

I know exactly where you are coming from on this subject I myself avoid MSN IM as much as possible because while I'm typing the other person has either moved on to a different subject or written four lines while I'm still trying to answer the first and you have to think quickly to come up with your reply otherwise the other person is sat waiting.

Confusion is a regular thing and this at least is mostly avoided on forums because things are explained clearly and detailed thought put into responses.

I spend most of my time appearing offline just to avoid using it even though I'm actually online. It's not that I want to avoid people as such I just cant be doing with talking utter rubbish half the time, with a forum you get to the point.

Also I'm often busy posting on here (tvworlds) and being interrupted every few seconds with orange flashing does my head in because you have to click and read the IM otherwise your completely distracted and can't continue with your train of thought.



My other online pet hate is social networking sites i.e Facebook I admit sometimes its nice to see a blast from the past and being able to find out where they are now and what they're doing now.

But I hate the Applications that go with it I'm bombarded with invitations for applications and it's the same one's over and over because each time they add the application they have to send it to ten other people meaning you end up with 20 odd invitations for the same thing and I have better things to do than find out who rates me or play mob wars.

It's nice to know someone understands the things I say.

People seem to think I am mad or talking rubbish when I say stuff instant messenging and chatrooms lets have an at least halfway sensible coversation on a forum and then perhaps/maybe make reference to various aspects of said/such on our own blogs and/or forums as its by far more productive RE many things

Well I remind myself that everyone has pet hates some people hate busy supermarkets, town centers, sticky hands, dirty work surfaces and others hate MSN IM.

It can even go as far as becoming a phobia so it's not really something you can do much about unless you go for therapy, can you imagine saying- I need help I have anxiety attacks when using MSN IM

There are thousands of things that niggle people or make them stressed hence mental health problems such as OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)

I personally hate town centers I feel like I'm in a herd of cattle and to make a break for it into a shop to your left means you may be run over by a oncoming pushchair

Hence when my mum visits I tell her she needs to decide what shops she needs to go in to, avoiding unnecessary time as a piece of livestock.

Some people won't understand your pet hate etc will possibly think your mad and talking rubbish, but there isn't really much you can do and others have to accept that I guess

I could just say yeah yeh this is all just mad

But I really do have wonders about Instant Messenging systems - Chatrooms and peoples health as when you get caught up in a conversation you tend not to take the breaks away form the keyboard that you should to.

Yep i agree, MSN sucks !!! its a waste of time, in work hours, and draws you right in after hours especially if you got a good mate that you can talk to for hours about any thing,it can use up hours of time, but time does fly when your having fun ! and its great for webcamming etc, and the emotions are funny and you can have a laugh on it, but its addictive in more ways than one.
i log in now and again just to be nosey and see whos online...
but i do love its simplicity and ease of use, i never have trouble keeping up the convo, with numerous people

and i cant stand chat rooms, or sites like facebook, myspace and all that tripe, its so boring and dead, it makes me barf....
youtube is the best so far, and whoever invented Fanbox needs a good kick up the a*** ! i keep getting spammed up from them !

oh yes, and i detest shopping, i wouldnt care if i didnt see the inside of a store for the rest of my life, i am a hippie and i love it , but i love fine things too, maybe its because i am a bit mental, or have to many wild fantasies, i am just an earth mother.

yeah long hours on the laptop, all that radiation, fumes, and spam, not a healthy diet is it, ive had a good break from it lately, and i do feel better for it.

I totally agree with all of you, when you are using an IM you lose track of the time, me and MissTvWorlds have been talking and before we both know it its gone midnight and we have both lost the plot of the conversation and end up talking rubbish for the sake of talking!!!!

I love how you start with msn sucks and then go on to say all the good things about it lol maybe you should start a thread why I love msn!

I agree with you about facebook and likes though its another platform to advertise you and your business so can be worthwhile.

I'm thinking your wild fantasies are not suitable for discussion on tvworlds

Not a fan of youtube nothing ever loads for me and all the video's freeze or skip, I'm sure it has nothing to do with my connection I have a average broadband speed

Vicky - You'll be glad to know its not just you and I think everyone does it and thats the worst bit about IM talking for the sake of it and going round in circles.

Vicky and I also have had many a time confused when one of us was left wondering what were on about when in fact the other person is still talking about what has now disappeared out of view.

Vicky have you any other pet hates?

My new online pet hate is Facebook chat, I believe this is still a reasonably new feature and obviously have some big kinks to sort out, four times I have tried to use it and the same things have happened every time.

1:- Facebook Chat is loading, for a very long time even though its posted your message

2:- Facebook is not available at this time, this is after posting your message

3:- Once it's finished loading it posts your message again making it look like you enjoy repeating yourself.

4:- After all of this your conversation may disappear completely at anytime and then is no longer available for x amount of time.

This is ridiculous this sort of thing happens here and there as I know from MSN but every time is stupid.
Stupid stupid stupid thing I only wanted to chat and plug tvworlds a bit!

Even so seriously I did not know FaceBook experienced the same Page Loadings problems that MySpace does as I have not really as yet taken much of a look around on Facebook.

MySpace however I have taken a dislike to and hope to improve upon especially RE Music and Musicians etc it is not good that people get raw deals as I prefer things to be better for all.
