Thread: TV And Movie Music!

  1. #1

    Cool TV And Movie Music!

What are some of your favorite songs and bands from movies or TV shows? What memorable scenes can you share with us?

Music is an important part of filmmaking, in that it sets the mood for a particular scene. The right music can tug at our heart or make us afraid to know what is behind that creaking door...

Directors like Cameron Crowe have been very effective in utilizing just the right music to match that perfect scene. Here are a few of my favorite film music moments. Feel free to add yours too!

    - "Say Anything" (Outside the window playing "In your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel, one of my favorite musicians)
    - "Vanilla Sky" (Tom Cruise on the ledge with "Njosnavelin" by Sigur Ros)
    - "The Devil's Rejects" (End of the road for the Firefly family with "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd)
    - "Almost Famous" (everyone singing "Tiny Dancer" as the plane descends)
    - "Donnie Darko" (Final scene with the "Mad World" remake)
    - "Lost - Season 5" ("Give Me Just A Little More Time" by Chairmen Of The Board - I LOVE that song!!)

The are MANY more, but I'd like to see what others can come up with too. Fire away!!

John William is my all time favorite with Jaws, Close Encounters, and Imperial March. Those tunes just hit the right spot.

For TV is CSI: NY by The Who. I seem to always start to dance involunteerly.

My oh my where do you begin? I am going to have to think on this one and get back on it as there are so many.

Like you say Spuddy the "score" soundtrack can make a film, or even a TV show for that matter.

For example over here in the UK the formula 1 car racing part of Saturday sports has had my favourite band Fleetwood Mac "The Chain" as their theme tune for donkeys years and everyone associates the track with formula 1 car racing as a result of this.

One fof my favourite songs that has featured in countless films like Stepmom, Bridget Jones, Sister Act and Remember the Titans is the original of Aint No Mountian High Enough by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrel, its always makes me feel like jumping up and dancing while singing into my hair brush It's one of those feel good songs!

I also love the song I am Human sung by The Smiths even though I dislike Morrissey it was a perfect choice for one of my favourite shows Charmed!

Though not exactly labelled as such, there were early precedents for Television movies, such as the 1957 version of The Pied Piper of Hamelin, starring Van Johnson, one of the first filmed "family musicals" made directly for television. (Most "family musicals" of the time, such as Peter Pan, were broadcast live and preserved on kinescope, which is not precisely the same as film or even videotape.

I like Akon's music, Especially the New one i.e "Apple of my eye". His song named "Show me the meaning of being lonely" is super duper hit.
